Ribbon Christmas Cards
Serena has
made these Christmas cards to hand out to her school friends with a candy cane
inside them!! (I know which item the kids will prefer)
We bought 2
packs of 6 blank cards with matching envelopes and some ribbon from the local Bargain
store and the ‘bling’ we already had left over from another craft but can also
be found in Bargain stores.
The first
step that I did was to make a Christmas tree template out of an old cardboard
box and measured then marked holes evenly along the tree edge. For the wider
ribbon I measured 1.5cm and for Serenas thinner ribbon 1cm. Then punched holes
through the markings.
Serena then
placed the template onto the plain Christmas card and marked the holes. Using a
BBQ skewer she poked holes through each marking. I put a folded towel under the
card so the skewer could go right through without stabbing her fingers.
She threaded
some ribbon (110cm) through the first bottom hole and secured it with sticky
tape, then kept on threading all the way to the top, again securing the top end
with sticky tape. The inside of the card also had the same pattern but the
strips went on an angle.
Thinking about it now after making them it would have been easier and simpler to thread the ribbon onto an old darning needle and using that to poke through the card and also threading the ribbon all at the same time!!
The final
step was to stick the ‘bling’ onto the top of the Christmas tree. Serena also
added some extra ‘bling’ onto one of the trees for decorations.
