Parachutes Cord Bracelets
My 17 year
old son Kasper bought one of these and wanted more SO we made them!!
All you really
need is some parachute cord and clip, scissors, matches and a big darning needle.
The length of
parachute cord you need is 18 times the length of the final product.
Once you have
the length of cord you need, fold it in half and then fold it at twice the length
of the bracelet. This bracelet is for my daughter and we want it to be 15cm
long so we folded the cord for the second time at 30cm.
Slip both
folded ends into one side of the clip, then slip the loose ends through the
folded bit (slip knot)
I didn’t get
a photo but it should have two long strands with the shorter folded strands in
the middle.
With the
other end of the cord slip it into the second part of the clip. Then pull it
all the way through until the clips are apart at the length you want the bracelet.
(Each part of the clip is spaced out to 15cm) Fold the folded cord down to the
other end of the clip. (See above picture) You can hold it in place with a bulldog
clip or peg.
Now for the
fun part-
Slip one of
the long parachute cords under the centre 4 strands
Take the
other long parachute cord and go over the centre 4 strands
Now thread
the underneath cord end over the second cord, then the over cord end gets threaded
under the first cord. Pull tight. Does that make any sense!!
You should
have a ‘crossover’ knot with 4 strands of cord in between it.
Now repeat
the above steps but opposite – so that the strand of cord on your right side
now goes underneath and the left side goes over, not forgetting to thread the
end through the loops. Pull tight
Keep
repeating this process until you have reached the clip. Don’t forget to swap ‘over
and under’ around each time!! Almost done
With a large
needle thread the cord end through a few of the crossover knot strands. Cut closely
and then slightly melt the ends with a match.
DONE!!
