Slap Bands

Slap Bands

Another easy craft that Serena and I made!!
For the slap bands you’ll need an old tape measure (or a cheap new one!!), some decorated Duct tape and sharp heavy scissors
In the first step I measure the length that I wanted the slap band to be then cut the measuring tape to that length (about 21cm). Make sure you tape the end of the measuring tape down somewhere so it doesn’t coil inside and you can’t reach it!!
Now we rounded off the sharp edges of the cut measuring tape
This next step is a little time consuming – you have to ‘work’ the tape (number side up) so that it we roll up when slapped. The easiest way is to slowly bend and press down working along the length. I found it best to do that using my thumb and forefinger. Be careful you don’t press too hard and put any sharp creases in it.
You can also roll it up firmly and tightly. ‘Working’ the tape can take 5 or so minutes. Make sure you keep testing it to slap
When you’re happy with how it slaps – lay it flat, then measure and cut some Duct tape slightly longer than it
Now place it number side down onto the Duct tape, making sure it sticks down firmly
Cut 2 little slits in the end of the Duct tape and fold the middle bit down
Repeat on the other end
Now fold over one side of the Duct tape, press firmly. This can be a bit difficult as the measuring tape might want to roll up!!
Do the same on the other side.
Now neatly trim off the extra tape at the ends

Done!!
