Lolly Sticks!!

Lolly Sticks!!

We had a very fun weekend as it was Serenas 10th birthday!!

So the craft we did this weekend was to make these lolly sticks for all the kids in her class

We selected some of Serenas favourite soft lollies to thread onto wooden skewer sticks

The lollies we used were – liquorish allsorts, snakes and party mix, raspberry clouds, marshmallow then we topped then off with a raspberry dot.

The snakes were a little hard to thread as they kind of stuck to the skewers while threading them on, so we rolled the skewer sticks into icing sugar first and found that they slipped on much easier!!
Yummy!!

Triskele Paper Globes

Triskele Paper Globes

Another simple WOW factor craft!! These 3d paper globes look amazing and will be great to have as decoration for Christmas
I got the original Idea from Hattifant and made my own template. All you need is paper, pencil, ruler, scissors and colouring pens.
In the first step just copy this template.
You need to draw 3 rectangles about 27cm by 5.5cm (add another 1cm for joining at an end) Now I used a large mug and traced around its edge to make these half moons evenly space on the rectangles.
For the best effect colour in all the half moons the same way
Now colour in the backgrounds in a matching way
Then cut out the 3 rectangles

With this next step gentle and slowly fold along the lines of the half moons.
After all the half moons are folded, flatten them out then glue 2 of the rectangles into rings

Place one ring into the centre of the other
With the third rectangle place one end into the top gap of the inside ring

Now fold over and place the other end into the bottem gap of the inside ring
Pull the ends through to the other side

Then glue the ends together
It should look like this
Slowly work the rings around so all the half moons are showing to the front

In the final step just gentle push in all the prefolded half moons!!

DONE!!

How great do they look!!

P.S. you could even make these with wrapping paper to save colouring in

Slap Bands

Slap Bands

Another easy craft that Serena and I made!!
For the slap bands you’ll need an old tape measure (or a cheap new one!!), some decorated Duct tape and sharp heavy scissors
In the first step I measure the length that I wanted the slap band to be then cut the measuring tape to that length (about 21cm). Make sure you tape the end of the measuring tape down somewhere so it doesn’t coil inside and you can’t reach it!!
Now we rounded off the sharp edges of the cut measuring tape
This next step is a little time consuming – you have to ‘work’ the tape (number side up) so that it we roll up when slapped. The easiest way is to slowly bend and press down working along the length. I found it best to do that using my thumb and forefinger. Be careful you don’t press too hard and put any sharp creases in it.
You can also roll it up firmly and tightly. ‘Working’ the tape can take 5 or so minutes. Make sure you keep testing it to slap
When you’re happy with how it slaps – lay it flat, then measure and cut some Duct tape slightly longer than it
Now place it number side down onto the Duct tape, making sure it sticks down firmly
Cut 2 little slits in the end of the Duct tape and fold the middle bit down
Repeat on the other end
Now fold over one side of the Duct tape, press firmly. This can be a bit difficult as the measuring tape might want to roll up!!
Do the same on the other side.
Now neatly trim off the extra tape at the ends

Done!!
